About the Ichetucknee Springs Basin Working Group
The Ichetucknee Springs Basin Working Group was formed in 1995 to protect the waters flowing to Ichetucknee springs. The working group gathers hydrological information about the basin, identifies threats to waters quality and spring flow and strives to develop solutions to overcome those threats. We seek voluntary compliance and give recognition to springs champions.
Stakeholders include representatives from all government agencies that have responsibilities in the spring basin as well as businesses, agriculture, environmental organizations and citizens. Quarterly meetings are held to inform members of research and monitoring results, and tasks completed, as well as to obtain guidance from members. Funding for the working group coordination, education, research and monitoring projects is provided by the Governor's Springs Protection Initiative administered by the Department of Environmental Protection.
